What iOS 26.1 Brings?

Apple released iOS 26.1 on November 3, 2025.  This update doesn’t radically overhaul things like a full‐new iOS version would, but it does bring a solid set of refinements, interface tweaks, and usability enhancements. Here are the major changes:

1. Liquid Glass Toggle (UI Transparency Control)

One of the biggest headline features: iOS 26 introduced the new “Liquid Glass” visual style (lots of translucency, glassy layers), but many users found it hard to read or distracting. iOS 26.1 addresses this by giving you control over how “glassy” the UI elements appear:

  • In Settings → Display & Brightness → Liquid Glass, there are now two presets: Clear (higher transparency, like the original) and Tinted (more opaque, higher contrast).
  • The “Tinted” mode increases opacity and improves legibility of UI elements like the Dock, Control Center, notifications.
  • Some additional UI improvements under the hood: e.g., subtler “glow” effects when tapping Liquid Glass elements; more distinct backgrounds for controls in apps like Photos.
Why this matters: If you found iOS 26’s UI beautiful but sometimes hard to read or too “floaty,” this gives you the option to make it more usable without sacrificing the whole aesthetic.
Tip: Try switching between Clear and Tinted and see which suits your eyes (and lighting conditions) better.

2. Lock Screen Camera Swipe Toggle

Another very‐welcome refinement: the ability to disable the swipe-left gesture on the Lock Screen that opens the Camera app.

  • In iOS 26.1: Go to Settings → Camera → Lock Screen Swipe to Open Camera and you can turn that off.
Why this matters: Many users complained about the camera launching accidentally when the phone was in a pocket or bag. This gives more control over that behaviour.
Tip: If you often carry your iPhone in your pocket or purse and have had the camera launch inadvertently, turn this off.
